Think Nothing of It

Every once in a while, someone will need your forgiveness.  You need to make sure the person asking for forgiveness knows you heard the apology.

Let’s say your friend is visiting your home and accidentally breaks a family heirloom.  Through your tears, say, “Think nothing of it.”  What those words says is, our friendship is in tact. You can still ask them to pay for repairs or replacement.  Social interactions take place between more than one person–meaning, you have to be aware of how and what the other person is feeling.  You have a responsibility to help make interaction a pleasant one.  Being polite and kind doesn’t mean you have to be a door mat!  If a friend is running late for lunch and apologizes when she finally joins you, she’ll appreciate hearing, “think nothing of it.”  Power words let you stay in control when things get awkward.

Power words you’ve learned so far: Unfortunately, some other time, and think nothing of it.
